Hello! We are Megan and Sarah and are currently seniors in high school. We have a strong passion for protecting the oceans and ocean life. Our goal with this blog is to spread awareness about the problems that our oceans are facing.

The Coral Reefs are the habitat/ecosystem of many different ocean species. These animals would not be able to survive without the reefs, and they might have to face that as a future. At this rate, the reefs are being killed off quickly, and it is expected that the reefs will be extinct by 2050. There are many different reasons as to why the reefs are dying.  Reasons include, but are not limited to: 1. Rising temperatures in the ocean are killing the organisms that are responsible for building the structure of the reefs.  2. Coral mining, when people mine for limestone and construction materials by destroying parts of the reefs. 3. Pollution  4. Blast Fishing, when people throw explosives in the ocean to be able to catch more fish. This and other forms of damaging fishing is extremely destructive and kills most of the life around the area, including the reefs.  Another problem is the sunscreen that we use.
